Virtual piano turns any surface into a keyboard
Digital Information Development (DID) has developed a highly portable virtual piano that is played with a keyboard consisting of projected laser beams.
The box-shaped device measures about 10 x 3 x 3 cm (4 x 1 x 1 in.) and weighs about 100 grams (3.5 oz.). Using a red semiconductor laser module and holographic optical element, the device projects a 25-key 2-octave keyboard onto the surface in front of it (black surfaces don’t work because they absorb the light). A CMOS camera module and infrared (invisible) red semiconductor laser module detect which keys are touched, and the corresponding notes are emitted from speakers built into the device. Chords can also be played, and DID claims it is technically possible to reproduce weighted notes (but presumably not with this version).
The keyboard has 3 other voices in addition to piano — organ, pipe organ and harpsichord. It is scheduled for release in Japan in November 2006 and is expected to cost around 15,000 yen (US$130).
DID says that a virtual 88-key grand piano can be created by increasing the size of the device.

The communication between an iSCSI target and an iSCSI initiator is done over a TCP/IP-based network (a local network or the Internet).
The use of the iSCSI protocol is a revolution in storage applications. With an iSCSI initiator a remote device appears as it was a local one - there is no difference for applications. The effect is to provide geographical independence to the person using the initiator. There are far-reaching consequences of this: o The use of familiar network technology and management reduces training and staff costs, and increases stability and reliability of an organization’s infrastructure.

- Existing SAN installations can be incorporated in new iSCSI networks by utilizing gateway technology to bring iSCSI and Fibre Channel (FC) devices into the same network.
- iSCSI greatly reduces the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) - existing networking and storage resources can be used.
- iSCSI storage needs can be outsourced to storage brokers, for such advantages as co-located storage for disaster recovery and storage on-demand provision.

Преинтереснейший факт приключился позавчера вечером. Мой любимый племянник не так давно занимается с репетитором по английскому языку. Предмет даётся ему не легко, поэтому он всячески старается уйти от дополнительных заданий.
И вот один раз, когда преподаватель в очередной раз намеревался задать домашнее задание, мой проказник как запищит: “Ах, ах, ах, моя нога, она просто ужасно болит!”, а через некоторое время добавил: «Хм, если бы Вы сжалились надо мной и не давали мне никаких заданий, то возможно она успокоилась бы гораздо быстрее!». Репетитор разнервничался и начал было рассказывать о том, что когда он ещё был в училище…
… И вдруг в комнату пришла сестра и с изумлением спросила: «Как, разве у Вас нет высшего образования по английскому языку? Мне ужасно охото увидеть Ваш диплом!».
Видели бы Вы лицо этого несчастного — как оказалось, у этого проходимца вообще нет необходимого образования по английскому языку. И по корочкам он — вдумайтесь - слесарь!!!
Ситуация комична до предела. Ну и что, что этот простак не имел на руках поддельного диплома, а ведь многие в наше время получают высшее образование через кассу.
Хотел бы выслушать ваше мнение. Может у кого-то ещё случалось что-то похожее?
